When it earns its keep

Four ways to slice your list

An export is where your WhatsApp account stops being a black box. Pull the whole thing, or just the slice you actually need.

Contacts, or a group's members

Export your contacts, or the member list of a group you're in. Wanova resolves the internal ids WhatsApp uses for group members back to phone numbers where it can, so you get a column you can dial rather than a column of gibberish.

Country segments

Filter by country code and pull everyone on a dialling code. The same segment you export is the segment you can broadcast to — it's one list, not two.

A file that opens correctly

CSV, Excel or vCard. In the Excel export phone numbers are written as text, so a long international number stays a number you can read instead of collapsing into 9.7155E+11 the moment the sheet opens.

CSV Excel (.xlsx) vCard Filter by country code
How it works

Three steps, inside WhatsApp Web

Pick the source

Your contacts, a group you're a member of, or a country code. You see the rows before you commit to anything.

Pick the format

CSV for anything, Excel (.xlsx) if it's going in a sheet, vCard if it's going in a phone's address book.

Save the file

Wanova reads every row in your browser and the file lands in your downloads. That's the whole trip — there's no server leg.

What an export can't do for you

For a feature like this there's really only one question — where did my contact list go? Here's the answer, plus the parts we'd rather you knew before you clicked.

Nowhere. That's the whole answer.

Every row is read locally in your browser and written straight into a file on your computer. The list is never uploaded, and no Wanova server is involved in an export at all. We can't see your contacts, because they never come to us. It produces a file — it doesn't sync anything anywhere.

You can only export what you can already see

Your contacts. The groups you're a member of. An export doesn't reveal anything WhatsApp doesn't already show you — it just puts it in a file instead of behind a scroll. A group you're not in stays out of reach.

The rows are people, and the law treats them that way

If you're exporting in order to market to them, consent and your local rules — GDPR and its equivalents — are your responsibility, not the file's. A list you're able to export is not the same thing as a list you're allowed to message.

Also worth saying: automating WhatsApp Web isn't officially supported, so it carries real terms-of-service risk — true of any tool that does it, ours included, and an export is no exception. And against our own sales interest: if you're pulling a list you have no consent to message, exporting it doesn't solve that problem, it just gives it a filename.
And then?

A spreadsheet doesn't follow anyone up

The file is the easy part. It sits in your downloads folder being tidy while the people listed in it are still waiting on a reply.

Wanova is a co-pilot first

An export tells you who exists. The co-pilot tells you who's still waiting, who went quiet after your quote, and what you promised — then drafts the reply for you to approve. A row in a sheet has never chased a deal.

You always press send
¿Cuál es el precio para 500 unidades? What's the price for 500 units?
Sure — $4.80 per unit at 500 pcs. Claro — $4.80 por unidad a 500 pzas.

Exported by country code?

Then the answers come back in five languages. Incoming messages are translated as they land, and you reply in your own — Wanova sends theirs, showing you the translation before it goes.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I export my WhatsApp contacts?

Open WhatsApp Web with Wanova installed and go to Export. Pick your source — your contacts, a group's members, or a country code — choose CSV, Excel or vCard, and save. Wanova reads the rows in your browser and hands you the file.

Can I export WhatsApp group members?

Yes, for groups you're a member of. Wanova reads the member list the same way WhatsApp Web already shows it to you, and resolves the internal ids WhatsApp uses for members back to phone numbers where it can. A group you're not in stays out of reach.

Where does my exported contact list go?

Onto your computer, and nowhere else. Every row is read locally in your browser and written straight to a file — no Wanova server is involved in an export at all. We can't see your list because it never reaches us. It produces a file; it doesn't sync anything anywhere.

Why do long phone numbers turn into 9.7155E+11 in Excel?

Because a spreadsheet sees a long run of digits and decides it must be a number, then shortens it into scientific notation. Wanova writes phone numbers as text in the Excel export, so a long international number comes out as the number you actually have.

Is it legal to export WhatsApp contacts?

Pulling your own list into a file is one thing; what you do with it afterwards is another. Exported contacts are people, and the law treats them that way — if you're exporting in order to market to them, consent and your local rules, GDPR and its equivalents included, are your responsibility. Separately, automating WhatsApp Web isn't officially supported, so it carries terms-of-service risk that no tool can remove.
